A CLASSIC IS BORN. The first fiberglass Corvette
rolled off a special assembly line at a Flint, Michigan plant on June 30, 1953.
The one color choice available was Polo White with a red leather interior. It
had a 150 horsepower engine with a two-speed automatic transmission. The only
options available were a heater and an AM radio. Of the original 300 Corvettes
built, 235 still exist today.
